Email Loop

We just found a problem where an email loop was created.  Someone sent an email from the same email address as the CRM queue's email address; as in the from and to email addresses were the same.  When Queue Manager picked up the email and sent out a verification email it was sent to the queue's email address.  Then when Queue Manager picked up the new email it sent out a verification email to the queue's email address.  Then when Queue Manager picked up the new email it sent out a verification email to...

You can see where this is going.

I know there's a bunch of smart people out there.  Ideas on how to stop this from happening?  Right now the only idea I have is to alter the Queue Manager source code to not convert emails that have the same from and to email addresses in them.  I was hoping there might be an easier way though.
